Welcome back Kevin Ware

(Source) - University of Louisville basketball player Kevin Ware looked "very good" and "had no hesitation" Sunday in his return to full-contact practice, coach Rick Pitino told ESPN.com.

Ware will dress in uniform for Louisville's 1 p.m. season opener Saturday against College of Charleston, when he may play for the first time since fracturing his right leg in the Cardinals' regional final victory over Duke last March.

"He went through everything today," Pitino told ESPN.com. "And for someone who hasn't played since March, he looked very good."

Ware was cleared for full contact about 10 days ago, ESPN reported, but trainer Fred Hina and Pitino were cautious about bringing the junior guard back too fast. He's gone through individual instruction to this point while rehabbing the surgically repaired leg.

I'm a day late on this but I think it's worth mentioning.  Kevin Ware had one of the worst injuries I have ever seen in sports.  He literally snapped his leg in two and had tendons and bone popping out of his leg.  I wanted to gouge my eyes out after seeing that gross shit.  And the fact that he is already back to practicing with full contact is fucking unbelievable.  Tearing your ACL is one thing, but coming back from something as fucked up as what happened to Kevin Ware absolutely demands my respect.

With Ware healthy and the addition of junior college transfer Chris Jones, the Cardinals once again boast on of the best, deepest backcourts in the country.  Yes the smart money is on Kentucky to win it all, but don't expect the defending champs to hand anything over without a fight.  Welcome back Kevin.

PS - Never forget...

You think Russ Smith forgot yet?

....Probably not.
