(Source) - It came as a surprise Monday when Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan revealed that he's still deciding whether to bench Robert Griffin III to ensure the quarterback's health for the 2014 season. It's an even bigger surprise that Shanahan has kept Griffin in the dark for another 24 hours.
Appearing on NFL Network's "Around The League Live" on Tuesday, NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported, via a member of the Redskins organization, that Shanahan still has not made his quarterback plans clear to RGIII.
The Washington Post reported earlier in the day that owner Daniel Snyder will not step in and interfere with Shanahan's decision this week.
An announcement on a Week 15 starter is expected to come Wednesday.
Until then, Griffin is left to wonder if he will be benched for Kirk Cousins the rest of the way.
I'm so fucking tired of hearing about the Washington Redskins. We get it, your organization is a train wreck, can we please move on? Hey RGIII, you're 3-10 and clearly playing hurt, you currently fucking suck at your job. Your team 100% will not make the playoffs so your best case scenario is that you're bitching about whether you can help your team go 6-10 and lose a possible top 5 pick. What is this great fear Griffin has of Kirk Cousins, this guy is so middle of the pack it's insane. Guy has career backup written all over him, with maybe a few starts here and there when the number one goes down. How is someone with as much obvious talent and upside as RGIII possibly fear this dude, its pathetic.
I actually feel bad for Mike Shanahan in the whole situation to be honest with you. Yeah he's a massive prick, but he clearly wanted to ease RGIII into the season, but because RGIII has the front office in his pocket they forced Shanahan's hand and whiny, insecure little Robert got to play. Without his usual comfort running around and zero preseason game-speed preparation the offense fumbled its way through the first half and the Redskins fell to the bottom of the division with zero help on defense. That was not the call Shanahan wanted to make. He wanted to play it safe and run the ball to Alfred Morris while Cousins would do his best to manage the game and keep turnovers to a minimum. But RGIII got the ball in his hands because he threw a bitch fit and he did things he wasn't ready to do, which resulted in shitty performance and unnecessary turnovers. Now he's being made the villain and is undoubtedly being fired, having his character and ability to coach questioned in the process.
This season is fucked for you guys, we understand that, we've understood it for awhile now. Please stop coming out with new problems in your organization, it's like a god damned telenovela* over there. Namby-pamby RGIII tweeting sensitive teenage girl shit, Shanahan red-faced and beaten down like an abused wife, Dan Snyder playing both sides of the fence and stabbing Shanahan in the back. It's a madhouse over there. Too much drama for me, I like my shitty teams to take their abuse on the chin like men and lie to my face about timelines laying out when we'll be good again. I'M LOOKING AT YOU EPSTEIN.
*Telenovela is Spanish for Mexican soap opera. Little culture for ya, nbd.
